Spice

Location: Oak Beach

The brief on this project was quite ethereal and rather than being one focused on hard fast requirements was a bit more imparted by look & feel, it also had to feel as if the home had been there for centuries.

The term “Tropical Bohemian” was given to the home’s particular style, which helped in establishing a design palette to work too.The existing home was first demolished to provide a blank canvas in an iconic tropical beach-side setting.

The use of natural materials to be featured was important as it would be these materials which would add the character of age and charm to the home.

Oak Beach is not serviced by town water or sewer, so consideration of these services was incorporated into the design.

The home is sited in a cyclonic zone, so all of the custom made doors needed to be independently assessed & certified by an engineer.

The client’s passion for hand crafted finishing’s led them to source the various décor from overseas trips. As such the design team needed to assess & also incorporate these materials into the home.

You can stay at this stunning retreat when in the tropical far north and if you are interested feel free to make a booking here
