bàlay Vandyke is the coming together of two prominent Cairns based building design studios,  bàlay building design & Chris Vandyke Designs.

Matt Piromalli established bàlay Building Design Pty Ltd in 2004 and has spent the past 20 years building the business by offering creative & customised design solutions for a variety of residential & commercial projects in North Queensland & PNG.

Matt takes an artful approach to each project and brings a unique balance of artistic ability and advanced 3D computer technology to each design. Matt's designs are influenced by the interplay of indoor and outdoor spaces and are created by combining his freehand sketch skills with a broad construction knowledge of our tropical region. Matt’s wide-ranging experience across many council areas, with sites of varying constraints and opportunities, has prepared him to deal with any design challenge.

Chris Vandyke is one of our regions most recognised building designers. He established Chris Vandyke Designs Pty Ltd in the 1980’s and until now has been responsible for some of the most iconic tropical architecture accross the eastern seaboard of Australia and throughout the Pacific.

Our approach is to provide a very personal and tailored response to each and every project, through a collaboration of ideas between designer & client.
